Near-Resonances of Superinertial and Tidal Fluctuations at Islands

چکیده
Abstract A linear numerical model of an island or a tall seamount is used to explore superinertial leaky resonances forced by ambient vertically and horizontally uniform current fluctuations. The assumes circularly symmetric topography (including shallow reef) allows realistic stratification bottom friction. As long as there substantial stratification, number are found, when the island’s flanks narrow relative internal Rossby radius, some near-resonant modes resemble Kelvin waves. Other “resonances” higher radial mode gravity waves explored Chambers. near-resonances amplify cross-reef velocities that help fuel biological activity. Results for cases with central replaced lagoon do not differ greatly from case which has land at center. aside, insight provided on question offshore boundary conditions nearly trapped along straight coast.

Resonances and fluctuations at SPS and RHIC
We perform an analysis of preliminary data on hadron yields and fluctuations within the Statistical hadronization ansatz. We describe the theoretical disagreements between different statistical models currently on the market, and show how the simultaneous analysis of yields and fluctuations can be used to determine if one of them can be connected to underlying physics. We perform such an analys...
متن کاملResonances and fluctuations in the statistical model
We describe how the study of resonances and fluctuations can help constrain the thermal and chemical freezeout properties of the fireball created in heavy ion collisions. This review is based on [1–5]

We study n-degree-of-freedom, nearly integrable Hamiltonian systems near the intersection of a stronger and a weaker resonance. We show the existence of motions that cross the weaker resonance faster than Arnold diiusion. We also describe families of complicated homoclinic orbits which create observable chaotic dynamics near double resonances. Quite remarkably, these families undergo a universa...
متن کاملBosons and Fermions near Feshbach resonances
Near Feshbach resonances, n|a|3 ≫ 1, systems of Bose and Fermi particles become strongly interacting/dense. In this unitary limit both bosons and fermions have very different properties than in a dilute gas, e.g., the energy per particle approach a value h̄n2/3/m times an universal many-body constant. Calculations based upon an approximate Jastrow wave function can quantitatively describe recent...
متن کاملQuantum resonances and regularity islands in quantum maps
We study analytically as well as numerically the dynamics of a quantum map near a quantum resonance of an order q. The map is embedded into a continuous unitary transformation generated by a time-independent quasi-Hamiltonian. Such a Hamiltonian generates at the very point of the resonance a local gauge transformation described by the unitary unimodular group SU(q). The resonant energy growth i...
